Assam Police Seize 1 Lakh Yaba Tablets in Major Drug Bust
The Assam Police carried out a major anti-narcotics operation in the Jalalpur area, seizing 1 lakh Yaba tablets and arresting three individuals. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated the police for their dedication to a ‘Drug Free Assam’.
In another incident on September 1, police arrested three individuals for allegedly carrying 2.95 grams of drugs. On August 31, Karimganj police apprehended another person with 10,000 Yaba tablets in Chargola Bazar.
The state government has been actively conducting multiple anti-narcotics operations to curb drug smuggling. Additionally, on September 1, 800 litres of illicit liquor were destroyed in Railway Colony under Rangapara police station. Karimganj police also seized multiple bottles of illicit liquor at Ashimganj under the Patharkandi Police station.
On August 7, Tripura Police and Border Security Force (BSF) seized Rs 70 lakh worth of Yaba tablets and arrested 11 Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian in four separate operations.
