Assam Police Arrests Key Accused in Trading Scam

In a significant breakthrough, Assam Police have arrested Dipankar Barman, a key figure in a multi-crore trading scam. Barman had been evading capture for a month before being apprehended in Goa. The arrest was announced by Assam Police DGP GP Singh, who congratulated the Guwahati Police team for their efforts.

The operation was led by Amit Mahato, IPS, ACP Pan Bazar, with assistance from the Crime Branch of Goa Police. This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into the DB Stock scam, which has seen over 40 cases transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Previously, Assam Police had arrested several individuals, including Bishal Phukan, Swapnanil Das, Assamese actress Sumi Borah, and photographer Tarkik Borah, in connection with the scam. The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has urged the public to be cautious of online trading scams, emphasizing that quick financial gains are often fraudulent.

In total, 38 people have been arrested in connection with the scam, which involved a Rs 2,200 crore fraudulent online stock market investment. The crackdown continues as authorities work to dismantle the network behind these illegal activities.
