According to the Chief Minister, the two individuals entered India illegally through the Madhoppur (BD)-Agartala route and intended to travel to Bangalore, Karnataka. The Bangladeshi nationals were identified as 36-year-old Mausum Khan and 15-year-old Sonia Akhtar, from Modelganj Police station area and Dhaka, respectively. They were successfully sent back across the border due to the collaboration between BSF and Assam Police.

On Monday, Assam Police also apprehended three other Bangladeshi nationals who entered India from the Tripura side. These individuals were also sent back to Bangladesh. Assam shares its border with Bangladesh through four districts: Cachar, Karimganj, Dhubri, and South Salmara.

Earlier on Wednesday, BSF Meghalaya stopped an infiltration attempt in the West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. During this operation, three Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian facilitators were caught. BSF Assam is also on high alert along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

In addition to preventing illegal crossings, security forces are also cracking down on the smuggling of contraband items in states bordering Bangladesh.
