Major Drug Bust in Karimganj, Assam
Joint Operation by Assam Rifles and Police
In a significant operation, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the local police, seized 10,000 Yaba tablets in the Karimganj district of Assam. The operation took place on Monday, following a tip-off about narcotics transportation in the Badarpur police station area.
Details of the Operation
Karimganj’s Assistant Superintendent of Police, Pratap Das, stated that the operation was based on reliable information. The team successfully apprehended a 23-year-old suspect named Dilwar Hussain Choudhary from the Katigorah area. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth Rs 1 crore in the market.
In addition to the drugs, a vehicle was also confiscated during the operation. The police have confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the drug network.
Previous Seizures
Just a few days earlier, on October 6, the police conducted another successful operation in the Karbi Anglong district, where they seized 1.5 kg of illegal drugs valued at Rs 3 crore and arrested two individuals.
