Assam Minister for Industry, Commerce and Public Enterprise, Bimal Borah, attended a review meeting on rubber plantation with Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting took place on Monday and was presided over by Piyush Goyal.

Key Discussions

The meeting focused on various policies and programs under the Act East Policy, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and complemented by the Government of Assam led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Bimal Borah highlighted Assam’s significant industrial growth and its leading role in rubber plantation in the North Eastern region.

Assam’s Achievements

During the meeting, Borah emphasized that Assam leads the North Eastern region in rubber plantation coverage with 61,716 hectares and an annual production of 58,359 Metric Tonnes. He also mentioned the Assam Industrial Policy’s success, attracting investments over Rs 13,000 crores and setting the stage for a Tata Group Semi-Conductor Plant valued at around Rs 22,000 crores.
