Assam Minister Atul Bora Reports Grim Flood Situation in Morigaon
Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora has reported that the flood situation in Morigaon is severe, with three people having lost their lives. The Brahmaputra river’s water level is receding, but the situation remains critical.
Impact on Morigaon
More than 194 villages in Morigaon have been affected by the floods, impacting 55,459 people and submerging 12,963 hectares of crop area. The state government has released Rs 381 crore to farmers under the PM Kishan Sanman Nidhi scheme’s 17th installment.
Statewide Flood Impact
Overall, 46 lives have been lost in Assam due to the floods, affecting over 16.25 lakh people across 29 districts. The affected districts include Goalpara, Nagaon, Nalbari, Kamrup, Morigaon, Dibrugarh, and many others.
Relief and Rescue Operations
Rescue teams from the NDRF, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, administration, Indian army, and paramilitary forces are actively engaged in rescue operations. On Wednesday, they rescued 8,377 people.
The state government is providing relief materials, and the administration is on high alert to assist the flood-affected people. The Chief Minister has instructed officials to prepare for the required relief materials in their districts.
