Assam Floods: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Leads Relief Efforts in Nagaon
The flood situation in Assam’s Nagaon district remains critical, affecting nearly 30,000 people. The Brahmaputra River breached the Hatimura embankment, submerging over 25 villages and 1099.5 hectares of crops. Many residents have been displaced, facing food and water shortages.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inspected the affected areas and assured that relief and rescue operations are ongoing, with support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additional measures are being taken to protect Kaziranga National Park and assist stray animals.
