On October 15, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his support for the upcoming Jharkhand elections, calling them crucial for the state’s future. The Election Commission of India has scheduled the elections in two phases on November 13 and 20. CM Sarma, who is also the BJP’s co-incharge for the Jharkhand assembly polls, emphasized the importance of “Modi’s Guarantee” in a post on X.

He stated, “I heartily welcome the announcement of Jharkhand Assembly elections. This election is crucial for the future of the state.” He contrasted the INDI alliance’s past record with the promise of progress under Modi’s leadership. Sarma encouraged party workers to engage with the public during this democratic event.

The counting of votes for both Jharkhand and Maharashtra will occur on November 23. Key dates include October 25 and 29 for nominations, October 28 and 30 for scrutiny, and October 30 and November 1 for withdrawal of candidatures. Jharkhand has 2.60 crore eligible voters, including 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 66.84 lakh young voters. Senior citizens over 85 can vote from home. The current assembly term ends on January 5, 2025, with elections in 81 constituencies.
