Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Talks About Infiltration Issues in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Jharkhand – Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand Assembly election co-incharge Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the media on Sunday, highlighting the issue of infiltration in tribal areas of Jharkhand. He emphasized that the biggest problem facing the Adivasi community is infiltration, particularly by Bangladeshi Rohingyas.

Sarma alleged that these infiltrators marry Adivasi women to seize their land and questioned the Jharkhand Government’s actions against them. He called for a debate with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on this topic and criticized their lack of response.

He also mentioned that the Central Home Ministry’s role is limited to border security and urged the state government to empower the Border Security Force (BSF) to operate within 50 km of the border, similar to Assam.

Earlier, after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) meeting in Ranchi, Sarma expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory in the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. He highlighted the party’s previous successes in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha seats in the state.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Sarma also discussed election strategies and participated in a tree-planting drive as part of the party’s ‘Ek ped maa ke naam’ initiative.

The terms of the current Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will end in January 2025, and the Election Commission has begun preparations for the upcoming elections.
