Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Thanks Jharkhand for BJP’s Success
Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], June 23: Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand Assembly election co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude to the people of Jharkhand for their significant role in forming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the center. He confidently stated that if assembly elections were held today, the BJP would win 52 out of 81 seats.
Press Conference Highlights
During a press conference, Sarma discussed the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections and highlighted the BJP’s success in winning nine Lok Sabha seats, which he equated to 52 assembly seats. He thanked the people of Jharkhand for their support in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which helped re-establish Modi Ji’s government.
Comparing Past Elections
Sarma noted that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP’s mandate was reduced to 25% in the assembly elections. However, he emphasized that the party’s efforts have now increased their potential to win 52 seats, thanks to the hard work of the state’s party workers.
Gratitude to Jharkhand’s Public
Reiterating his gratitude, Sarma said, “Party workers from all over the country are bowing towards the public of Jharkhand for making BJP victorious on nine seats and contributing largely in the creation of BJP’s government for the third consecutive term.”
Addressing Lost Seats
When questioned about lost seats, Sarma countered by saying that the focus should be on the seats won rather than those lost. He also criticized Jharkhand’s current Chief Minister Champai Soren for losing in his own tribal constituency.
Future Goals
Sarma expressed confidence in reaching 70 assembly seats in the future, thanking Babulal Marandi and his team for their efforts in winning nine Lok Sabha seats.
Meeting and Tree Planting
Earlier, Union Minister and Jharkhand Assembly election in-charge Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Sarma held a meeting to discuss election strategies. They also participated in the ‘Ek ped maa ke naam’ tree-planting drive at ICAR, Namkum campus, and Lichi Bagan in Ranchi’s Hatia area.
Upcoming Assembly Polls
Along with Jharkhand, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jammu and Kashmir will also undergo Assembly polls. The current Jharkhand Legislative Assembly’s term ends in January 2025, and the Election Commission has started preparations for the elections.
