Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Orders Strict Action Against Illegal Activities Post-Election

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the police to take strict legal action against individuals from a particular community who he alleges have engaged in illegal activities following the June 4 Lok Sabha election results.

He highlighted recent incidents of rape in Mazbat, Dhekiajuli, and Dudhnoi, as well as mob violence in Kokrajhar and Barpeta villages. CM Sarma emphasized the need for strong police action against those involved in these crimes.

According to the Election Commission of India, in the 2024 general election, the BJP won nine seats, Congress won three, and BJP’s allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United Peoples’ Party, Liberal (UPPL) won one seat each out of the total 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam.
