Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) membership drive in the state on Tuesday. He enrolled himself at the party’s state headquarters in Guwahati, expressing pride in being part of the world’s largest political party.

During the event, Sarma criticized the Congress party for alleged nepotism, stating, “For every BJP worker, taking membership of the party is a sacred Maha Yagya. There is no ‘parivarvaad’ in BJP, but we have seen the picture of ‘parivarvaad’ in Congress.”

BJP Assam President Bhabesh Kalita also spoke at the event, mentioning that the goal is to make 60 lakh members in Assam by 2025. He described the membership drive as a festival with participation from workers across the country.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched BJP’s 2024 membership drive ‘Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024’ by renewing his membership. He urged party workers to connect with the youth, emphasizing the importance of educating them about past political issues.
