Ranchi, Jharkhand – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the co-in-charge for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory. Speaking at a press conference after a BJP organizational meeting, Sarma highlighted the party’s enthusiasm and past successes.

Party’s Enthusiasm and Past Success

Sarma noted, “The party workers are full of enthusiasm. We have won nine Lok Sabha seats. We had already led on 52 Vidhan Sabha seats in Jharkhand in the last Lok Sabha elections. We will win the upcoming (assembly) elections in Jharkhand.”

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won nine out of 14 seats in Jharkhand, with BJP winning eight and its ally AJSU securing one.

Preparation and Strategy

Sarma, along with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is the in-charge for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, plans to visit every Vidhan Sabha constituency once a week. They discussed strategies for the upcoming elections and participated in the ‘Ek ped maa ke naam’ tree-planting drive at ICAR, Namkum campus, and Lichi Bagan in Ranchi’s Hatia area.

Criticism of JMM-Congress Government

Sarma took a jibe at the current JMM-Congress government, stating, “Women should get Rs. 1 Lakh under the ‘Khatakhat’ scheme. The day that happens, I will go to the CM and congratulate him.” This was in response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s promise to transfer money to poor women’s bank accounts if the INDIA bloc won the Lok Sabha elections.

Upcoming Assembly Elections

Along with Jharkhand, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jammu and Kashmir will also undergo Assembly polls. The current term of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly ends in January 2025, and the Election Commission has started preparations for the elections.
