On Friday, the Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, made several important announcements for the state. These include transferring illegal trading scam cases to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), partnering with Dassault to develop skilled professionals in aerospace, and launching a new recruitment drive for teachers.

Illegal Trading Scam Cases to CBI

The Assam Cabinet has decided to hand over cases related to the fraudulent stock market scam to the CBI. A new Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) will be issued to allow police to take suo-moto action in such cases in the future.

Partnership with Dassault

Assam will collaborate with Dassault to build trained manpower in the aerospace sector. This initiative aims to develop skilled professionals in the state.

Teacher Recruitment Drive

The state will launch a new drive to recruit 4,669 teachers. The education department will publish an advertisement for this recruitment for 10 days.

Infrastructure and Development Projects

The cabinet has approved several infrastructure projects, including:

  • Revamping Assam Zoo at a cost of Rs 362 crore
  • Building a new flyover in Guwahati for Rs 218 crore
  • Constructing a stadium in Kokrajhar for Rs 107 crore
  • Purchasing 100 MW of clean wind-solar hybrid power

Financial Assistance and Schemes

The cabinet has approved 25,238 beneficiaries under the CMAAA scheme, who will receive Rs 2 lakh each. Additionally, the Orunodoi 3.0 scheme will start on September 19, providing ration cards to 17 lakh new beneficiaries.

Eviction Drive Incident

Earlier, two people died, and seven others were injured after police fired to control a mob during an eviction drive in the Kamrup (Metro) district. The situation worsened after Congress’ interruption, leading to injuries among 22 police personnel and a revenue circle officer.
