Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces 50,000 More Jobs by 2025

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday that his government will create 50,000 more jobs by May 2025. This follows his promise of providing 1 lakh government jobs, a milestone achieved in the last three years.

At a ceremonial event at Veterinary College Field, Khanapara in Guwahati, 23,956 contractual and state pool teachers were awarded permanent appointment letters under the Department of School Education, Government of Assam. This brings the total number of jobs provided during the current government’s tenure to 1,24,345, surpassing the initial target of 1 lakh. Each job has been delivered without a single instance of corruption.

CM Sarma extended his heartfelt congratulations to the appointees, expressing hope that they will continue to drive positive change in Assam’s education sector. He also mentioned that his government has decided to appoint 6,000 headmasters and will take key decisions for teachers and government employees in the next state cabinet meeting in Lakhimpur on September 4.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu praised CM Sarma’s efforts, noting that he initiated the appointment of TET-qualified contractual teachers in 2012 and has now regularized the services of 23,659 teachers through a special recruitment drive. Pegu expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his significant role in the process and thanked the Samagra Shiksha Assam’s SSA and Statepool contractual teachers for their support.
