Assam Chief Minister Criticizes Jharkhand Government

Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Allegations

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the BJP co-in-charge for the Jharkhand elections, criticized the JMM-led government in Jharkhand. He accused them of not fulfilling their promises and looting the people. Sarma questioned the promise of giving gold coins to daughters and daughters-in-law during weddings, alleging that Alamgir Alam took all the gold coins.

Seizures and Arrests

Sarma mentioned that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seized large amounts of money from Alamgir Alam’s residence and a Congress MP’s residence. Alam was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case, and his Officer on Special Duty, Sanjiv Kumar Lal, was also arrested after a significant cash seizure.

Comments on Rahul Gandhi

When asked about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s helicopter being delayed, Sarma remarked that Gandhi should appreciate spending more time in Jharkhand. He also stated that Congress should not fear Prime Minister Modi, as he is loved by many, and criticized Congress for its past governance.

Congress’s Response

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh wrote to the Election Commission, expressing concerns over the delay of Rahul Gandhi’s chopper due to “no-fly-zone restrictions.” He emphasized the need for a level-playing field in election campaigning.

The first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections has concluded, with voting in 43 out of 81 seats. The remaining elections will occur on November 20, and counting will be on November 23.
