Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces Bicycles for Students and Boosts Technical Education

The Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, made several important decisions to improve the state’s education and infrastructure. These decisions were shared by the Chief Minister on his official handle on X.

Provision of Bicycles for Students

One of the key decisions is to provide bicycles to over 3 lakh students in Class 9. This initiative aims to promote regular attendance and reduce dropout rates in secondary schools. A financial sanction of Rs 2148.55 crore has been approved for this scheme, benefiting 3,23,640 students.

Boosting Technical Education

The Cabinet has allocated Rs 150 crore for the establishment of three new polytechnics in Hajo, Majuli, and Tingkhong. Additionally, 451 part-time faculty members will be re-engaged in government engineering colleges and polytechnics to ensure uninterrupted academic activities.

Infrastructure Development

To enhance the railway network and create job opportunities, the Cabinet approved the transfer of 8 bighas of government land to NF Railways for the construction of a doubling railway line between Azara and Kamakhya.

Other Key Decisions

The Cabinet also addressed the pay scale anomaly for Computor Grade-II, Grade-I, and Head Computor under the Directorate of Land Records and Surveys, Assam. Additionally, salaries for 131 teachers in Karbi Anglong will be released to ensure the continuation of education.

These decisions reflect the Assam government’s commitment to improving education and infrastructure in the state.
