Dispur (Assam) [India], September 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam has seen a tremendous response to its membership drive, which began on September 3. The party now boasts over 40 lakh members across the state.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media platform X to celebrate this historic achievement. He posted, “With 40 lakh members, #BJPSadasyata2024 crosses a historic milestone in Assam. This reflects the people’s support for our uncompromising approach to Vikas & Virasat.”

In 2019, the BJP had just over 18 lakh members in Assam. Thanks to the ongoing membership drive, the number has more than doubled. The drive will continue until September 25.

Chief Minister Sarma also expressed his gratitude to the BJP’s Assam General Secretary Pallab Lochan Das, the party’s state President and MLA Bhabesh Kalita, and all the party workers for their efforts.

On September 13, Sarma announced that the state unit had enrolled over 20 lakh people in just 9 days. He said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party, Assam Pradesh, has already enrolled 20,43,796 members in just 9 days. In fact, we have already surpassed the total membership enrolled in 2019. We will continue the membership drive with even greater dedication.”

Additionally, the BJP has enrolled nearly 4 lakh people in Tripura. Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura launched the membership campaign in the state, which has seen enthusiastic participation from the people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the membership drive on September 2, and the following day, CM Saha began the campaign in Tripura. Previously, around 650,000 people had accepted membership in the BJP, and this time the target has been increased both in Tripura and at the central level.
