Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had a productive meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the establishment of a Defence Corridor in Assam. Sarma shared a photograph of the meeting on social media, expressing gratitude to Singh for the positive discussion.

The proposed Defence Corridor aims to boost local manufacturing and create job opportunities in Assam. Sarma also suggested organizing a Defence Conclave in the state to further explore its potential as a defence manufacturing hub.

Previously, the Centre announced two Defence Industrial Corridors in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. These corridors have attracted significant investments, with Uttar Pradesh securing Rs 12,191 crore and Tamil Nadu Rs 11,794 crore in potential investments. The initiative has already seen substantial investments in both states.
