Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Visits Family of Missing Boy Abinash Sarkar
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the Jyotinagar area in Guwahati on Saturday to meet the parents of Abinash Sarkar, who went missing after falling into a drain near a local temple during devastating floods. The Chief Minister expressed his deepest condolences to the family.
Abinash Sarkar, son of Harilal Sarkar, a resident of Shyamnagar in Bhawanipur of Noonmati area of Guwahati, has been untraced since the tragic incident on Thursday night. The Chief Minister also visited the incident site and reviewed the ongoing search operation. He instructed the concerned departments and search teams to intensify their efforts to locate the child.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have conducted several search operations to find the missing child. He directed the teams to search from the incident site to the sluice gate of the Bharalu River.
Guwahati Municipal Corporation Mayor Mrigen Sarania, Special DGP Harmeet Singh, City Police Commissioner Diganta Bora, District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, and other senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma about the flood-like situation in Assam due to heavy rains. Shah assured the affected people that the NDRF and SDRF are working on a war footing to provide relief and rescue victims. He also conveyed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to providing all possible assistance to the flood-affected state.
Shah stated, “On account of the heavy rains, a flood-like situation has occurred in Assam. Spoke with Assam CM Shri @himantabiswaJi about the ongoing situation. The NDRF and the SDRF are working on a war footing, providing relief and rescuing the victims. PM Shri @narendramodiJi stands firmly with the people of Assam and is committed to providing all possible assistance to the state in these challenging times.”
