Assam BJP President Bhabesh Kalita Criticizes Congress on Bangladesh Issue and Announces Rajya Sabha Candidates

Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Bhabesh Kalita has criticized Congress for remaining silent on the issue of atrocities against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. Kalita urged the new government in Bangladesh to ensure the safety and security of Hindu minorities in the country.

Bangladesh is currently experiencing political turmoil, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigning on August 5 amid growing protests.

Kalita also announced that the BJP will field two candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Assam, with support from other National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners. A crucial two-day meeting of the BJP North Eastern region was held in Guwahati, attended by party presidents from all North Eastern states, senior party leaders BL Santosh, MPs, and other senior leaders. The meeting discussed issues related to the upcoming Panchayat and Rajya Sabha polls.

Another important party meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, with Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma expected to attend.

The two Rajya Sabha seats in Assam became vacant after Sarbananda Sonowal and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa were elected to the 18th Lok Sabha in April. The Election Commission of India has scheduled elections for September 3 to fill 12 vacant Rajya Sabha seats across various states, including Assam.
