ASI Submits 2000-Page Report on Dhar’s Bhojshala Complex to High Court
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has submitted its final survey report on the disputed Bhojshala complex in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. The report, which is around 2000 pages long, was presented to the Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on July 15. The next hearing is set for July 22.
According to ASI’s counsel, Himanshu Joshi, the court had ordered the ASI to submit the report by July 15. The court has also instructed that the findings of the report should not be made public.
The Bhojshala complex holds religious significance for both Hindus and Muslims. For Hindus, it is a temple dedicated to Goddess Vagdevi (Saraswati), while for Muslims, it is the site of the Kamal Maula mosque. An arrangement made in 2003 allows Hindus to perform puja on Tuesdays and Muslims to offer namaz on Fridays.
The ASI began the survey on March 22, following a court order dated March 11. The court had directed the ASI to form an expert committee to conduct a scientific investigation, survey, and excavation using the latest methods and techniques. Initially, the ASI was given six weeks to complete the survey, but they requested and were granted extensions, finally submitting the report on July 15.
