Ashwin Noronha Becomes New Chief of Guwahati Airport
Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 3: Ashwin Noronha has been appointed as the Chief Airport Officer of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati. Ashwin is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Mumbai International Airport Limited and has a rich background in the aviation industry, having worked with Qatar Airways Group, KPMG, and Zurich Airports in India.
Under his leadership, Guwahati Airport will align with the overall vision of Adani Enterprises. The airport processed over five lakh passengers in May 2024, marking a 15% increase compared to May 2023. To manage this growth, significant changes are planned, including a new terminal by mid-2025 that will accommodate over 13 million passengers, increased runway capacity, MRO facilities, a helipad, and a cargo market to establish the airport as an international hub for Southeast Asia.
Ashwin Noronha stated, “Development at the Guwahati Airport will focus on redefining the airport infrastructure through regional footprint growth. There will be an increased focus on consumers and non-passengers. With a deeper investment in digital technology innovations, Guwahati Airport will enable a seamless passenger experience.”
He added, “I am excited to be an integral part of the journey of Guwahati Airport as we continue to build the airport of this region’s future. Airport management is complex and challenging and can make a tremendous difference in the lives of people. I genuinely look forward to this leadership opportunity, and to continuing to make positive impacts.”
He also thanked his predecessor, Utpal Baruah, who has been part of the Adani Airports team since 2019 and played a crucial role in the airport’s development. Utpal Baruah’s tenure as Chief Airport Officer saw LGBIA Guwahati transform into a world-class airport.
