Ashok Tanwar Returns to Congress Amidst Haryana Elections

In a significant political move, Ashok Tanwar, a former Haryana BJP leader, has rejoined the Congress party. This event took place in New Delhi, with Congress’ senior observer for Haryana elections, Ajay Maken, present. Tanwar, who was previously a Congress MP from Sirsa and served as Haryana Congress Chief from 2014 to 2019, had left the party in 2019. He later joined the Trinamool Congress in 2021 and the Aam Aadmi Party in 2022, before switching to the BJP ahead of the 2024 general elections. However, he lost the Sirsa seat to Congress’ Kumari Selja.

Tanwar’s return to Congress was marked by his presence at a rally led by Rahul Gandhi in Mahendragarh, Haryana. During the event, Tanwar criticized the BJP for using religion and caste in politics. He praised the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, for giving direction to the country and strengthening faith in the Congress party.
