Ashok Gehlot Criticizes Delay in Opening Gandhi Vatika Museum in Jaipur

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has criticized the Bhajanlal Sharma-led Rajasthan government for delaying the opening of the Gandhi Vatika Museum in Jaipur. Despite its inauguration about a year ago, the museum remains closed to the public.

In a post on X, Gehlot expressed his frustration, stating, “Even after its inauguration about a year ago, the BJP government has not opened the Gandhi Vatika Museum in Central Park, Jaipur for the general public. This world-class museum has been built at a cost of about Rs 85 crore.”

Gehlot mentioned that he had written a letter to the Chief Minister, requesting the opening of the museum. He said, “I personally and through a letter also requested the Chief Minister Mr. @BhajanlalBjp to start this museum to spread Gandhiji’s message of truth and non-violence among the public.”

To protest the delay, Gehlot and other Gandhians have announced a dharna on September 28, from 11 am to 4 pm at Gate No. 5 of Central Park, near the Gandhi Vatika Museum. Gehlot stated, “To protest against this stubbornness of the government and to open the Gandhi Vatika Museum to the general public, I and all the Gandhians will stage a dharna on 28 September, Saturday, from 11 am to 4 pm at the Gandhi Vatika Museum located at Gate No. 5 of Central Park.”

In June, Gehlot had criticized the Rajasthan government for not opening the museum, claiming that the delay was initially due to the Lok Sabha elections. He said, “Earlier, due to the administration being busy with elections, it was not opened for the public, but now the Lok Sabha elections are over and the new government has been in power for more than 6 months. In such a situation, the fact that the Gandhi Vatika Museum has not been opened till now is beyond comprehension.”

Gehlot urged the Chief Minister to open the museum without further delay, adding, “I would like to request the Chief Minister Mr. @BhajanlalBJP to start this attractive museum built in Jaipur without any delay. It should not happen that Gandhians are forced to go on hunger strike to start Gandhi Vatika against this stubbornness of the administration.”

The Gandhi Vatika Museum in Central Park, Jaipur was inaugurated on September 23, 2023, by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi.
