Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court, which has significantly boosted the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) confidence for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.

Punjab Minister Balbir Singh added, “This is ‘David vs. Goliath’ and today ‘Goliath’ has emerged victorious. They are not able to break Arvind Kejriwal…This is the victory of truth…Arvind Kejriwal’s release is a huge morale booster for the Haryana assembly elections. We will win with a huge margin.”

Punjab Minister Anmol Gagan Maan also welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision, saying, “There is a wave of happiness in the entire nation…We thank the Supreme Court…The candidates for the Haryana assembly elections will be filled with enthusiasm…It is the victory of honesty.”

Details of the Bail

The Supreme Court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Excise Policy case but set certain limitations, such as barring him from entering the CM office and signing files. Upon his release, Kejriwal was welcomed by a large crowd of AAP leaders and supporters. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, along with AAP leaders, accompanied him to his official residence. Kejriwal held a roadshow from the jail to his residence.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering probe relating to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
