Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest and Health Scare in Court

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal was taken to Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday. During the court proceedings, Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels dropped, and he was given tea and biscuits. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, accompanied him.

Kejriwal was formally arrested in connection with the Excise policy case after the Vacation Judge of Delhi Court allowed the CBI to examine him. The court asked the CBI to present the material for his arrest. Kejriwal was produced before the court of vacation judge Amitabh Rawat, with his wife, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, and AAP leader Dilip Pandey present.

CBI’s Special Public Prosecutor DP Singh argued against Kejriwal’s lawyer’s submissions. Kejriwal’s advocate sought applications for interrogation by CBI and related orders. Kejriwal had recorded his statement in Tihar Jail regarding the Excise Policy case and was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 for money laundering.

AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed the arrest was a conspiracy by the central government. The party posted on social media that Kejriwal would not bow down under pressure. The Delhi High Court stayed Kejriwal’s bail order, stating that the trial court did not properly appreciate documents and arguments. The High Court halted Kejriwal’s release until further orders.
