Arvind Kejriwal Visits Party Office After Release from Jail
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal visited the party office in Delhi on Sunday. This was his first visit after being released from Tihar Jail on Friday night.
Support from Party Leaders
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann praised Kejriwal for keeping the party united even while in jail. He said, “He kept the party united even from the jail. And the workers kept it united from the outside. If any other party had faced so many problems, it would have been broken.”
Meeting with Senior Leaders
On Saturday, Kejriwal held a meeting with senior party leaders to discuss various issues, including the upcoming assembly polls in Haryana and party organization in Delhi. AAP leaders said Kejriwal will campaign in Haryana, where the party is contesting all 90 assembly seats. AAP General Secretary and MP Sandeep Pathak stated that they will contest the elections with full strength in Haryana.
Release from Jail
Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday evening after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a corruption case related to the Delhi Excise Policy scam. His lawyers furnished surety bonds for his release before the special CBI judge, citing the Supreme Court ruling. Upon his release, Kejriwal was welcomed by a large crowd of AAP leaders and supporters outside the jail. His supporters celebrated outside his residence with firecrackers.
Supreme Court Conditions
The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal, stating that prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty. The court also imposed conditions on his release, including that he shall not make any public comments about the case and shall be present for all hearings before the trial court unless exempted.
