Arvind Kejriwal Faces Court Hearing in Excise Policy Case

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal was brought to Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday morning for a hearing in the excise policy case. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, accompanied him.

The Supreme Court will also hear Kejriwal’s petition against the Delhi High Court’s interim stay on his bail in a money laundering case linked to the liquor excise policy. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) examined Kejriwal in Tihar Jail and recorded his statement related to the case. According to CBI sources, he may be officially arrested before the court today.

AAP’s lawyer posted on X, criticizing the government’s actions and accusing them of a vindictive mindset. The Delhi High Court stayed Kejriwal’s bail order, stating that the trial court did not properly document or appreciate the arguments and conditions required under the Prevention of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

A vacation bench of Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti noted that the High Court’s decision to grant an interim stay on Kejriwal’s bail without a final order was unusual.
