Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri

New Delhi, India – On October 2, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th birth anniversary. Kejriwal shared his thoughts on X, emphasizing that Gandhi’s life message will continue to guide the world. He said, ‘Respectful tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. Bapu’s life always teaches ‘Sarvajan Sambhaav’. Learning from his life philosophy, we all are engaged in serving the people. Bapu’s life message will always guide the whole world.’

Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Union Minister Manoharlal Khattar paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in New Delhi. Prime Minister Modi also shared his heartfelt tributes on X, highlighting the lasting impact of Gandhi’s ideals based on truth, harmony, and equality. He said, ‘On behalf of all countrymen, salutations to Pujya Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and ideals based on truth, harmony and equality will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen.’

Additionally, PM Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary. He said, ‘Respectful tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary, who dedicated his life for the ‘jawan’, ‘Kisan’, and ‘swabhiman’ of the country.’

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, known as the ‘Father of the Nation’. Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat, Gandhi led the non-violent resistance against British rule, which eventually led to India’s independence in 1947.

Lal Bahadur Shastri, born in Uttar Pradesh in 1904, was the second Prime Minister of India, serving from 1964 to 1966. He passed away in Tashkent on January 11, 1966, after signing the Tashkent Pact with Pakistan. Shastri was a visionary leader influenced by Gandhi’s teachings and led the country towards progress.
