Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu Flags Off ‘Soul of India’ Bike Rally in Tawang
On September 21, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu flagged off the ‘Soul of India’ bike rally in Tawang. The event started at the War Memorial and highlighted the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Major Bob Khathing in bringing Tawang under Indian rule.
Khandu expressed regret that these contributions were lost in history and announced the establishment of the Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing museum in Tawang. The museum will feature a ‘Soul of India’ installation, housing soil from iconic locations across India connected to the freedom struggle.
The ‘Soul of India’ ride began on June 13, 2024, with three riders from the Royal Arunachal Riders covering 12,000 km to collect sacred soil. Riders from across India contributed by sending soil from inaccessible sites. A total of 36 casks of soil were received by the Chief Minister and will be displayed in the museum.
The museum is set to open on October 31, National Unity Day, commemorating Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary. Chief Minister Khandu expressed gratitude to the riders and all involved in the project. He also reviewed the status of the under-construction museum, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kangki Darang and 190 Mountain Brigade Commander Brig Vipul Singh Rajput.
