New Delhi [India], June 29: Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm pacer for India, is on the brink of breaking a significant record in the T20 World Cup 2024. He needs just three more wickets to surpass the record for most dismissals in a single edition of the tournament. Currently, Arshdeep has taken 15 wickets with an economy rate of 7.50.

Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi recently set the record with 17 wickets, surpassing Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, who had 16 wickets in the 2021/2022 season. Ajantha Mendis of Sri Lanka is in third place with 15 wickets from the 2012/2013 edition.

India, led by Rohit Sharma, will face South Africa in the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday. Both teams are unbeaten in the tournament. India has dominated their matches, defeating strong teams like Australia, Pakistan, and England. In contrast, South Africa has narrowly escaped defeats, with close calls against Bangladesh, Nepal, and the West Indies.

The Men in Blue aim to win their first T20 World Cup since the inaugural edition in 2007 and end their ICC trophy drought since the 2013 Champions Trophy.
