The main suspect, Anurag Tiwari, was injured in the leg during a police encounter near the Thana Malwa area. The second suspect, Alok Tiwari, surrendered to the authorities. According to Vijay Shankar Mishra, the Additional Superintendent of Police in Fatehpur, the suspects were spotted in a car during a routine check. When signaled to stop, they attempted to flee, leading to a confrontation where Anurag Tiwari opened fire on the police. In self-defense, the police retaliated, resulting in Anurag’s injury.

During the investigation, Anurag Tiwari was identified as a wanted suspect in the journalist’s murder. The police recovered a knife, pistol, cartridges, a car, and Rs 4200 in cash, all linked to the crime. Both Anurag and Alok Tiwari have a history of involvement in serious criminal activities.
