Arrest Made in Baba Siddique’s Murder Case
The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested Gaurav Vilas Apune, a suspect in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, in Pune, Maharashtra. This brings the total number of arrests to 16. Apune is believed to have met with other suspects to plan the assassination and was in contact with the shooters hired to kill Siddique.
Details of the Incident
Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12 near his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai. The gang led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has claimed responsibility for the murder. The weapons used were reportedly sourced from Rajasthan.
Ongoing Investigation
The Mumbai Crime Branch has deployed teams outside Maharashtra to find more suspects, particularly in Haryana, where Zeeshan, the alleged mastermind, is being sought. Another weapon was recovered from the Pune residence of suspect Rupesh Mohol, making it the fifth weapon found. The Crime Branch is still searching for one more weapon and three live cartridges, believing that six weapons were brought to Mumbai for the murder plot.
