Arnab Kumar Chowdhury Appointed as Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the appointment of Arnab Kumar Chowdhury as Executive Director (ED) starting from June 3, 2024. Before this promotion, Chowdhury served as Chief General Manager-in-Charge in the Department of Supervision.

Chowdhury brings over three decades of experience at the RBI, having worked extensively in the supervision of financial entities, corporate strategy, budgeting, accounting, and the Issue Department. He has also been a member of several committees and working groups, contributing to policy formulation.

As Executive Director, Chowdhury will be responsible for the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation, Foreign Exchange Department, and International Department. He is a Chartered Accountant, holds a master’s degree in Economics, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF).
