Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi Unveils ‘Agniastra’ in Gangtok

In Gangtok, Sikkim, the Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, introduced a new device called “Agniastra” during the Army Commanders Conference. This portable multi-target detonation device was created by Major Rajprasad RS from the Indian Army’s Corps of Engineers. It is a significant advancement for both conventional and counter-terrorism operations.

The device, which was patented on March 19, is designed to improve safety and reliability in detonations. It can operate in both wired and wireless modes with a range of 2.5 kilometers, surpassing the previous Exploder Dynamo Capacitor’s 400-meter range. This allows for selective and simultaneous firing of multiple targets, enhancing its effectiveness in demolition operations.

Major Rajprasad’s innovation is particularly beneficial for counter-terrorism operations and IED destruction, providing greater safety for troops. The Army Commanders’ Conference, presided over by General Dwivedi, is being held in a hybrid format, with the first phase in Gangtok and the second phase in New Delhi. The conference focuses on reviewing operational preparedness and discussing future strategies for national security and technological advancements.
