Army and Police Capture Hizbul Mujahideen Associate Mohammed Khalil in Poonch
The Army’s Rashtriya Rifle unit, along with the Poonch police’s Special Operations Group, successfully captured Mohammed Khalil, an active associate of the banned terror group Hizbul Mujahideen, in the Magnar area of Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir.
Details of the Operation:
- Mohammed Khalil was apprehended on July 30.
- A foreign pistol and an AK-47 with two magazines were recovered.
- Khalil was using a Pakistan-based WhatsApp number for receiving instructions.
According to officials, Khalil was tasked with gathering information and guiding terrorists. He is currently in police custody, and further investigations are ongoing.

The Ministry of Home Affairs reported a decline in terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Up to July 21 this year, 28 people, including civilians and security personnel, were killed in 11 terror-initiated incidents and 24 counter-terror operations. This is a decrease compared to previous years, with 44 people killed in 2023 and 146 in 2018.
