In Seraikela-Kharsawan, Jharkhand, former Union Minister and BJP leader Arjun Munda, along with his wife Meera Munda, who is a BJP candidate from the Potka Assembly constituency, participated in the first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections by casting their votes. The voting began on Wednesday morning.

Arjun Munda encouraged voters to exercise their right to vote, expressing confidence in his party’s performance. He stated, “I have voted to take the state towards a bright future; I hope the people of Kharsawan will also vote in the same way. I am confident that our candidates will win.”

Meera Munda also urged everyone to vote, highlighting the enthusiasm and long queues at polling stations. She said, “Voting for the first phase is taking place today. I appeal to everyone to exercise their franchise. People are excited to vote, and long queues can be seen outside the polling stations.”

As of 9 am, the Election Commission of India reported a voter turnout of 13.04% in the first phase, with Simdega district leading at 15.09%. The BJP-led NDA is challenging the JMM-led coalition, with notable candidates like former Chief Minister Champai Soren and Congress leader Ajoy Kumar in the race.
