Arjun Babuta Finishes Fourth in Men’s 10m Rifle at Paris Olympics
Chateauroux, France – Indian shooter Arjun Babuta finished fourth in the men’s 10m rifle final at the Paris Olympics on Monday. Babuta started strong with a 10.7 shot but fell to fourth after a 10.2 in his second shot, totaling 20.9 out of 22 points.
Babuta shared that the experience will make him stronger and mentioned speaking to Beijing Olympics gold medalist Abhinav Bindra for support. He said, “Today was not my day. China’s 19-year-old Sheng Lihao won gold with 252.2 points, Sweden’s Victor Lindgren took silver with 251.4 points, and Croatia’s Miran Maricic secured bronze with 230.0 points.
Babuta maintained the fourth spot after hitting 10.5 in his third shot and leapfrogged Sweden’s Victor Lingreden with a 10.4 in his fourth shot. He moved to the second spot after firing two shots above 10.5, scoring 84 after eight shots. However, he slipped to third with a score of 105/110 by the end of the second series.
In the elimination round, Babuta started with a 10.6 shot, trailing Sheng by 0.1 points. A 9.9 shot ended his streak, and he fell behind Sheng. Despite a 10.7 shot, Babuta settled for fourth after a 9.5 shot.
