Apple Unveils New MagSafe Charger for Faster iPhone 16 Wireless Charging

Apple Introduces Enhanced MagSafe Charger for iPhone 16

Apple has launched a new version of its MagSafe Charger, designed to improve wireless charging speeds for the upcoming iPhone 16 series. Announced on September 9, this charger aims to match the speed of traditional wired charging, marking a significant advancement in Apple’s wireless technology.

Key Features

The updated MagSafe Charger retains its compact puck design and is compatible with Qi2 and Qi charging standards. The standout feature is its ability to support up to 25W wireless charging, allowing the iPhone 16 to charge up to 50% in about 30 minutes when paired with a 30W USB-C power adapter.

Compatibility and Limitations

While the 25W charging rate is exclusive to the iPhone 16 series, earlier models like the iPhone 12 to 15 will receive a maximum of 15W. Older models, such as the iPhone 8 to 11, will charge at up to 7.5W due to lack of magnetic compatibility.

Pricing and Availability

The new MagSafe Charger is priced at USD 39 for the 1-meter version and USD 49 for the 2-meter version. The 30W USB-C Power Adapter, sold separately, costs USD 39. Availability may vary by region, with some areas like China currently excluded.

Both the charger and adapter are available for immediate shipping, allowing customers to prepare for the iPhone 16’s release in ten days. This launch highlights Apple’s commitment to enhancing its ecosystem with more efficient charging solutions.
