Apna Dal and SBSP Dissolve Units After Poor Election Results in Uttar Pradesh

Apna Dal (S) and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) have decided to dissolve all their units and executive committees following a disappointing performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Both parties, which are part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Uttar Pradesh, announced this decision through a press note, citing their poor election results as the reason.

SBSP mentioned that they will review their strategy for the 2027 assembly elections and will form new organizational units to contest with renewed energy. Apna Dal state spokesperson Rakesh Srivastava explained that dissolving units is a common process after an election defeat, as it allows for a review and necessary changes within the organization.

Although the BJP-NDA won the overall Lok Sabha elections, they managed to secure only 36 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. In contrast, the Congress and Samajwadi Party, part of the INDIA bloc, won a combined total of 43 seats. The Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, emerged as a significant force, winning 37 seats and becoming the single party with the highest number of MPs from the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi won his seat in Varanasi but with a reduced margin of over 1.5 lakh votes against Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajai Rai. Union minister Smriti Irani faced a major setback, losing the Amethi Lok Sabha seat. Dimple Yadav defeated BJP’s Jayveer Singh in Mainpuri, while her husband and party chief, Akhilesh Yadav, won in Kannauj against BJP candidate Subrat Pathak. In Faizabad, which includes the Ayodhya Assembly seat, Samajwadi Party’s Awadesh Prasad led against BJP candidate Lallu Singh.
