Anil Kumble Praises Jasprit Bumrah’s Bowling
In a thrilling Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, India emerged victorious against Afghanistan. Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble lauded Jasprit Bumrah for his exceptional bowling performance. Bumrah took three wickets, conceding only seven runs in his four overs, including a maiden over.
Speaking on the ESPNCricinfo TIMEOUT show, Kumble highlighted Bumrah’s understanding and execution of his bowling. He praised Bumrah’s ability to deliver under pressure, especially noting his dismissal of Rahmanullah Gurbaz with a slower ball.
In the tournament so far, Bumrah has taken eight wickets in five matches, averaging 6.50.

India won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite struggling at 90/4, a crucial 60-run partnership between Suryakumar Yadav (53 runs) and Hardik Pandya (32 runs) helped India reach 181/8 in 20 overs. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi each took three wickets.
During Afghanistan’s chase of 182 runs, they lost wickets regularly and were all out for 134 runs. Azmatullah Omarzai was the only batsman to score over 20 runs. Indian bowlers Bumrah, Arshdeep, and Kuldeep Yadav were instrumental in the win. Suryakumar Yadav was awarded ‘Player of the Match’.
