Anil Deshmukh Claims BJP Leaders Want to Join NCP-SCP Due to Government Issues

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 2: Anil Deshmukh, the former Home Minister of Maharashtra and leader of the NCP-SCP, stated on Monday that some senior BJP leaders are unhappy with the current government and are considering joining his party. He mentioned that the Mahayuti Alliance, which includes Ajit Pawar, Eknath Shinde, and the BJP, is not as strong as it should be.

Deshmukh expressed concerns about the government’s handling of issues like unemployment, inflation, and farmers’ distress. He also criticized Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis for focusing on political infighting instead of improving the law and order situation. Deshmukh highlighted the ‘Shakti Kanoon’ law he had proposed, which aimed to ensure quick punishment for certain crimes, but noted that it has been pending with the central government for three years.

He accused the government of misusing agencies like the ED and Income Tax Department against opposition leaders. To protest against the government’s inaction, Deshmukh announced that female leaders from his party would wear black armbands and protest on Tuesday.

Additionally, Deshmukh mentioned that there is an effort to provide Z+ security to Sharad Pawar to monitor his activities, which Pawar has refused.
