Andhra Pradesh Pioneers Teacher Training for Young Learners
Andhra Pradesh has taken a significant step by becoming the first state in India to introduce Foundation Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) training for Grade 1 and Grade 2 teachers in government schools. This initiative, led by B. Srinivasa Rao, IAS, State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, is expected to have a lasting impact on the National Educational Policy.
Program Details
The six-day FLN Training Program was inaugurated at the YeS-J Convention Center, Andhra Loyola College campus. The event was attended by key figures including Additional Director of Samagra Shiksha, A. Subba Reddy, and NTR District DEO. The training aims to improve the quality of education in government schools, focusing on children aged 3 to 8 years.
Training Implementation
The program involves 34,000 teachers across the state, participating in 14 sessions. The training is designed to align with the National Education Policy and Nipun Bharat, aiming to provide quality education at the grassroots level. The initiative seeks to create an environment that revitalizes the education system, ensuring every student meets educational standards.
Training Locations
The training is conducted in various districts including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, NTR District, Guntur, Tirupati, YSR Kadapa, Sri Sathya Sai District, and Anantapur District. Approximately 1,700 teachers attended the first spell of residential training.
