Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 28: Andhra Pradesh’s Director General of Police, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, announced on Wednesday that the state government is considering forming an anti-narcotic task force to effectively control the drug problem.

“The state government is very determined to control this drug menace. So the state government has formed a cabinet subcommittee with five cabinet ministers to study the ganja problem and to come up with a solution to control it,” Rao told reporters.

“One of the things that is talked about and thought about is to form an anti-narcotic task force. We already have posted an officer, an IG rank officer, to handle this issue. He will take all steps to form this ANTF,” he added.

The DGP mentioned that the police are also considering a toll-free number, 1972, which will be available to everyone and will be activated in the next few days.

“The focus is on 2-3 important issues. One is the narcotics ganja, which is very prevalent in Visakhapatnam and nearby areas. The second is cybercrime, which is also a thrust area for the government of Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
