Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his grief over the deaths of four people who died due to landslides in the Mogalrajapuram area of Vijayawada. The victims, Meghna, Bolem Lakshmi, Lalu, and Annapoorna, lost their lives when a boulder fell on their houses.
CM Naidu announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased on behalf of the state government. He assured that the Andhra Pradesh government would support the affected families and directed officials to evacuate locals from areas at risk of landslides.
Due to the ongoing heavy rains, CM Naidu advised people and officials to stay alert. He held a review meeting to ensure all departments are on high alert and that necessary assistance is provided to the people. He also instructed officials to declare holidays for schools in heavily affected areas, install warning boards near overflowing streams and rivers, and send alert messages to mobile phones of people in affected areas.
The Chief Minister warned of potential dangers such as falling power lines and trees due to heavy winds and rains.
