Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu Meets PM Modi to Discuss State’s Development

New Delhi, India – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief N Chandrababu Naidu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital. During the meeting, CM Naidu sought the central government’s support on important matters related to the state’s development.

CM Naidu congratulated PM Modi on assuming the office of Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term. He expressed confidence in PM Modi’s leadership and highlighted the trust the people of Andhra Pradesh have placed in the NDA coalition government.

Challenges Faced by Andhra Pradesh

CM Naidu discussed the ongoing challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh due to the unfair bifurcation of 2014 and the previous administration’s misgovernance. He pointed out the state’s deteriorating fiscal situation, unproductive expenditure, and lack of strategic development plans.

Financial Constraints

CM Naidu emphasized that Andhra Pradesh is severely constrained by a lack of financial resources. Committed expenses like salaries, pensions, and debt servicing exceed the state’s revenue receipts, leaving no room for productive capital investment.

Seeking Central Government Support

CM Naidu requested the central government’s financial handholding to address the state’s fiscal challenges. He sought support for the Polavaram National Irrigation Project, completion of the government complex in Amaravati, and incentives for industrial development.

Additional Requests

He also asked for additional allocation under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment, targeting essential sectors such as roads, bridges, irrigation, and drinking water projects. He requested support for the backward regions of Andhra Pradesh and the development of Duggirajupatnam port.

CM Naidu described the meeting as very positive and focused on achieving positive outcomes for the state of Andhra Pradesh.
