Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review meeting with officials at the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority to address the severe floods caused by heavy rains. The floods have disrupted life in the state, submerging houses and cars in areas like Rama Krishna Puram in Vijayawada.
Police and NDRF teams have started rescue and relief operations, relocating affected residents to rehabilitation centres. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning for the next five days, particularly in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
Due to water logging, the South Central Railway has cancelled over 20 trains and diverted more than 30. Andhra Pradesh Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh visited flood-affected areas in the Mangalagiri constituency to oversee rescue and relief efforts. He interacted with residents to ensure relief measures were reaching everyone in need.
On Saturday, a house in Mogalrajapuram collapsed due to a rock falling from a hill amid heavy rainfall, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to two others, who are now in stable condition.
