In Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, the local police have successfully dismantled an interstate drug trafficking operation. On Saturday, they arrested three individuals involved in the illegal trade.

Details of the Arrest

The police recovered 413 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, branded as Codril-T, hidden within the door panels of a car. The arrested individuals are Monty Singh from Bulandshahar, UP, Ashish Bardawaj, and Rahul from Chhatarpur, New Delhi.

Operation Details

The consignment was reportedly meant for delivery in Sopore and Srinagar. The vehicle was intercepted at Doonipora Sangam after police set up multiple checkpoints along the Delhi to Srinagar route, based on credible intelligence.

Further Investigations

Further investigations led to the detention of a local smuggler from Sopore. Cooperation with the Narcotics Control Bureau in New Delhi resulted in a raid at a warehouse in Noida’s Sector 135, where a large quantity of Codeine was found.

The key figures behind the racket, Sachin Rana and Arun Rana from Faridabad, have been identified, and efforts to capture them are ongoing.
