Anahat Singh Triumphs at NSW Open 2024
Indian squash sensation Anahat Singh, aged 16, clinched her seventh Professional Squash Association (PSA) Challengers title of the year by winning the women’s singles at the NSW Open 2024 in Sydney, Australia. Anahat, seeded second, faced 15-year-old Helen Tang from Hong Kong in the final, securing victory with a 3-1 score (8-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-4) after dropping the first game.
Path to Victory
In the semifinals, Anahat defeated Wong Po Yui Kirstie from Hong Kong 3-1 (11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8). Earlier, she overcame Japan’s Akari Midorikawa 3-1 (9-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-7) in the quarter-finals. Anahat’s journey began with a win against Japan’s Kurumi Takahashi in the second round, following a first-round bye due to her seeding.

India’s Urwashi Joshi, seeded fourth, also received a first-round bye but was defeated by South Korea’s Dong Ju Song 3-1 (12-10, 4-11, 5-11, 9-11) in the second round.

Anahat’s victory in Sydney continues her impressive season, having entered the world’s top 100 after winning the Costa North Coast Open in Coffs Harbour. She began the year with wins at the JSW Willingdon Little Masters and Senior Tournament, followed by HCL Squash Tour titles in April and June.
